This pencil drawing of Lydia May Bidmead, (later Lydia May Hatton and subsequently Mrs Angus Wilson), was created in 1911. When compared with other drawings created in 1911 this is a much softer image of Lydia (Biddy), with plainly arranged hair and simple cotton 'sailor' blouse.' The artist, Brian Hatton, was married to Lydia May on 5th November 1914, by soldier's licence. The following year, on 21st September, his father's birthday, Biddy gave birth to their daughter Mary.
