Study for a bearded man, Eywas Harold

Drawing, 1905
Brian attended a study group at the vicarage in Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire from January 1905, in preparation for his studentship at Oxford which began in the autumn term of that year. The tutor was The Rev. A.B. Banister. The bearded man was probably one of the visiting tutors. Brian's drawing technique varies according to the subject matter. This drawing shows his very fine and delicate use of a pencil, which is ideally suited to a small portrait sketch.
